How to get Involved
How to get involved in the Trust - Feoffee Recruitment
Bungay Town Trust is managed by trustees, known as feoffees. Our constitution allows for a maximum number of feoffees of 34 and we currently have several vacancies.
What is involved?
The Trust meets four times per year. In addition, there are three committees (Almshouse, Finance and General Purposes), each of which also meet four times per year. All feoffees are appointed to one of the committees and are expected to attend as many of these eight meetings as possible. There are also opportunities for feoffees to become more involved, by chairing committees or by taking up roles covering specific areas of the Trust’s work, such as the weekly market, the lands that the Trust owns or by supporting our almshouse residents. In addition, there is the possibility to be appointed to the role of Town Reeve (Chair of the Trust) – the Town Reeve is selected by the outgoing Reeve from amongst current feoffees.
Feoffees are appointed by current feoffees and serve for an initial period of five years. Feoffees can be reappointed to further five-year terms.
What qualifications are you looking for?
No particular qualifications are required but a strong interest in protecting and promoting what is great about the town is essential. We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience of financial management of a charity or with knowledge or skills in land management but a wide range of skills are valuable to the Trust.
