Bungay Town Trust CIO is governed by a number of trustees, known as feoffees.
Feoffees are appointed to serve five-year terms; currently, there is no limit to the number of terms that feoffees may serve. Some of our current feoffees have served for more than forty years.
In addition, Bungay Town Council has the right to appoint between two and five feoffees, who serve four-year terms. These appointed feoffees can be serving town councillors but non-councillors can also be appointed.
There are currently 25 Feoffees, of whom 2 are council nominees.
The Chair of the Trust is known as Town Reeve, an ancient position which dates back to Saxon times. The current Town Reeve is Jason Collins. Town Reeves serve for a year. The Town Reeve selects his or her successor from amongst the feoffees.
